WHAT'S GOING ON...
Last night was the all night prayer meeting lead by our young Haitian missionaries that were formed this summer. It was the kick off leading up to the feast of our parish, St. Charles Borromeo. The next few nights will be mission nights which will end on the feast of St. Charles on November 4th.
Since we have so many teens asking us for money so often, Amanda thought it’d be a great opportunity to invite them into praying with us for God to provide for this mission. Each day at 10:22am we have asked them to join us, wherever they are, in praying a Hail Mary. Join us if you’d like! (10/22 is our Center’s feast day)
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday we went to masses at St. Charles’ as part of the feast week leading up to the feast of St. Charles on Tuesday. There were 2 masses a day. After Tuesday’s mass with the Bishop, there was a reception here for about 100 people. We ended up having to cancel our first Life Night due to all of the event’s happening at the parish.
Father Louis brought with him 2 sisters from the Religious Sisters of Mercy; one from Michigan and the other from St. Louis, MO. One is a psychiatrist and the other a Canon lawyer. They came to do human formation for all 35 priests of our diocese. It was split up in 3 groups in different regions of the diocese. Some of us had the chance to serve the conference that was held here on the first day of their trip. They focused on different emotional attachments theories that stem from the way we our raised as children and how they effect us as adults. They also talked about boundaries that priests need to have in order to minister to people in a healthy way. The conference gave us some great insight on how to better minister to our teens.
We brought several people to the hospital this week, a father of a teen and a young pregnant woman with 8 kids who we’ve been helping.
Paul has been trying for a while to get discipleship officially started with a few different teens. The first few guys were no-shows several times in a row. The third teen he tried was Jean Renel, who is the son of Ti Manet who works in our kitchen. He almost never comes to any events or mass. Recently he started coming to a few masses.
Today he forgot about his first meeting with Paul so Ti Manet went home to get him and he came. In discipleship, he told Paul that he thought he would never be chosen for such a thing and that he is so glad that he gets to be part of it. He also shared that his dad, who lives with them, won’t acknowledge him as his son. Pray for them.
For Danley who is traveling to the the U.S. in the morning to attend a wedding in TX and visit his family in CA.
Also pray for Josnee, the sick teen who was at a voodoo doctor’s house.
11/8 Re-scheduled Life Night Kick-Off
11/9 Movie Night: "Horton Hears a Who" in French
11/9 Ongoing formation for Haitian Summer Missionaries
Life Teen Missions has been in Haiti since October of 2012. We were extended an invitation by Bishop Dumas of the Diocese of Aun-se-vou and Miragoine to be a part of the New Evangelization in Haiti specifically with the youth. We currently serve the teens in our area through Bible Studies, Life Nights, XLT's, and one-on-one discipleship. We enjoy visiting our teens homes to bring the Gospel to their families and inviting them to return to church. Currently there are 10 full time Life Teen Missionaries serving in Haiti, including the smallest and best missionaries, Nathaniel and Therese Albert. We feel very blessed to be in Haiti serving the youth who are so hungry to know Christ.
