WHAT'S GOING ON...
We sent the first-year missionaries back to Covecrest even more on fire than before! We ended the trip with a Q& A about life as missionaries in Haiti, to help any missionaries who may want to discern being joining us in the future.
Yesterday, an engineer and his team officially began implementation of our new housing project. It has been a long time in the making and we are really excited that it has started!
Girl’s group concluded the four-week relationship series of Intentional Discipleship on romantic relationships and it went pretty well. We have been realizing the need to discuss this topic even more with our teens. One girl said there is no such thing as a guy who doesn’t lie, and they all have a difficult time explaining why pre-marital sex was wrong. Today we had ongoing formation for the young missionaries. Sara & Paul gave proclaims from the Theology of the Body semester. The young adults were soaking up the information and had so many questions regarding sexuality, NFP, etc. Again, this is a topic that we need to dive into more deeply.
The pastor of the co-cathedral in Miragoane will be having a monthly mass in English and one in Spanish to appeal to the youth who are studying or already know a little of each language. Today Fr. Louis con-celebrated while Amanda lead the music and Danley did the readings for the mass.
We have been very busy as usual. Please pray that all of our missionaries will be able to get some rest in order to come back ready to fully serve the mission.
Amy, Lazer, & Sean headed to the U.S. for their Christmas vacations. Amanda & Sara are headed home in a few days and Paul, myself, the kids, and Danley will be staying in Haiti as we will be traveling at other times. We will be having a more relaxed schedule than usual. Most of the Haitian missionaries will be headed to their hometowns to spend time with their families.
Life Teen Missions has been in Haiti since October of 2012. We were extended an invitation by Bishop Dumas of the Diocese of Aun-se-vou and Miragoine to be a part of the New Evangelization in Haiti specifically with the youth. We currently serve the teens in our area through Bible Studies, Life Nights, XLT's, and one-on-one discipleship. We enjoy visiting our teens homes to bring the Gospel to their families and inviting them to return to church. Currently there are 10 full time Life Teen Missionaries serving in Haiti, including the smallest and best missionaries, Nathaniel and Therese Albert. We feel very blessed to be in Haiti serving the youth who are so hungry to know Christ.
