WHAT'S GOING ON...
FEAST DAY! In Haiti, feast days of parishes, choirs, etc. are a big deal. From Sunday, Oct. 19th up until Wednesday Oct. 22nd we celebrated our feast (Saint John Paul II). The first few nights we had praise and worship, and conferences by different priests from the diocese. Some of the topics were holiness, Our Lady of Fatima, and the communion of saints. The feast culminated with a mass of Thanksgiving for Fr. Dumas (the disabled priest living with us) because Fr. Louis had others praying to JPII for his healing when his accident first happened. Originally he was unable to do anything after his accident and now he remembers Creole, Spanish, and English, is able to do physically therapy, amongst other things.
The mass had about 13 priests from the diocese and there was a beautiful homily given by a a priest who was the director of our base years before we got here. One memorable thing about his homily was that he compared our place (formerly known as Madian) to Nazareth in John 1:46 (“Can anything good come from Nazareth?”). Can anything good come from Madian? He pointed out that though this is one little place, so much good is happening here and that so many know of our center.
This weekend we closed our center in order to have a community weekend, which we will be doing monthly in order to grow closer as a community and to rest well. We had a girls and guys night, which definitely helped the girls and guys to bond separately. Today the 2 communities (English and Creole) came together for “celebration of the word” which we had separately prepared last week. This week’s word was AMEN. Everyone now has a new appreciation for the power behind the word Amen.

Life Teen Missions has been in Haiti since October of 2012. We were extended an invitation by Bishop Dumas of the Diocese of Aun-se-vou and Miragoine to be a part of the New Evangelization in Haiti specifically with the youth. We currently serve the teens in our area through Bible Studies, Life Nights, XLT's, and one-on-one discipleship. We enjoy visiting our teens homes to bring the Gospel to their families and inviting them to return to church. Currently there are 10 full time Life Teen Missionaries serving in Haiti, including the smallest and best missionaries, Nathaniel and Therese Albert. We feel very blessed to be in Haiti serving the youth who are so hungry to know Christ.
